This Wastelanders note is for dwellers who missed 2020 or want the faction split explained without a wiki spiral. It covers the Overseer's return, Foundation, the Crater, and how gold bullion vendors open once your reputation moves.
What you walk:
The Wayward opening, the Overseer's holotapes, Duchess and the raider radio tone, Paige at Foundation, Meg at the Crater, Ward's reputation chores, and the point where both factions stay on the map no matter who you favor.
Worth a second read:
Steel Dawn after you finish the original trail, daily gold limits, Minerva's rotating stock, and which ally quests (Beckett, Sofia Daguerre) can run beside the main split.
Before you start:
Know your level and whether you want Settler or Raider reputation first. The note does not tell you there is one correct side.
After the quests:
You should know where to spend gold, which public events feed treasury notes, and why Fort Atlas is the next chapter rather than a separate game.

I came back after Steel Reign and the faction note stopped me from grinding the wrong reputation. Foundation's gold vendor finally made sense.

The Crater section matched what Meg actually asks. I stopped treating the raider quests like a side errand.
Ridge Dispatch keeps faction notes practical: what the quest changes, what it does not, and which later patch added the next chapter.
